At any one time, various CFA member groups are actively involved in law reform and policy development.

Current projects include:

Credit Reporting - the Victorian Government announced a review of credit in late 2005, including the efficacy of positive credit reporting. CFA believes that including positive credit reporting in the review is a mistake, as adequate analysis of the pros and cons of this issue require extensive research - that will be beyond the resources of Consumer Affairs Victoria. Our long-running campaign, chugging along gently in the background, is to reduce the amount of irresponsible lending by our financial institutions. As a start, finance providers should not provide unsolicited credit card limit increases to consumers.
